Shasti Lowton is an innovative curator and art consultant who uses exhibitions as a tool to promote social change. Her work sits on the nexus of art, design, historical archives and contemporary culture to create stories and experiences that resonate with and empower audiences.

Based in London, she has been working in arts and culture since 2013. Shasti was shortlisted as a finalist for Stylist Magazine’s and Nivea’s ‘Bring it on 30’ campaign, an award to recognise women under 30 who were making waves in their chosen industry. Her previous projects have included collaborations with the Design Museum, Black Cultural Archives, Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, The National Trust, Southbank Centre, Rich Mix and Culture24.

Shasti curated the Science Museum Group’s award winning exhibition Illuminating India: Photography 1857 – 2017 and the Design Museum’s international touring exhibition Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street. She is currently a curator for the Government Art Collection where she develops the Collection through their dedicated acquisition, commissioning and programming strands.

Shasti’s research specialisms in Latin American, South Asian, Contemporary African and conflict art have led her to work with award winning contemporary artists. She currently interested in exploring ways to create physical experiences for digital projects, how contemporary art is shaping popular culture and speculative futures. Shasti is dedicated to increasing accessibility to the arts and actively works towards creating a truly inclusive sector.
